On a personal note, Selma rapidly became a part of our family. Her energy and devotion to our daughter Kiran was beyond what I would have expected. This was my first time using a nanny for our daughter and I was very nervous to trust anyone to love and care for her.
Selma was excellent at following directions. I am very particular about Kiran's food, diapers, and naps. Often she would go above and beyond what I do as a parent. Examples would be as follows:
Food - when Kiran moved to solids Selma was very particular about how small the bites should be for each meal. She would even peal the skin off of peas to make sure Kiran didn't have an issue swallowing them.
Diapers - I always changed the diaper every 2 hours. Regardless of the type of mess found in a diaper, my husband and I have always just used baby wipes. Selma couldn't stand the idea of not washing after a poo… so she would often clean Kiran's backside in the sink with soap to make sure a rash would not occur. I always found that cute, just because it's not something we do in the states.
Naps - I am a parent that allows Kiran to cry as she goes to sleep. It usually lasts about 4 minutes and then Kiran lays down and naps for a good 2 hours. Selma would sit on the stairs and just wait for Kiran to not cry. One time it took about 45 minutes (Kiran was fake crying in her crib and Selma was really crying on the stairs). It just shows you how much heart she puts into her kids.
We trusted her so much that we brought her to Hawaii when our son was born. At one point I was on bed rest and she took care of Kiran and me. I'm very thankful she made the trip and my heart is broken that she's no longer with our family.
It is with all my heart I recommend Selma to you and your family. Children are a blessing and Selma will do everything it takes to love and protect your child while you are away.
